CONSCIOUSNESS
Consciousness for me is an unending, ever changing flow of imagination that never ceases to grow. With this photographic body of work, I confront a thought with an opposing thought to generate an intellectual friction. I juxtapose two unrelated visuals and create a new image in the viewers’ mind triggering an internal dialogue. The central theme that binds all the images together, apart from formal aesthetic, is a contemplation of fundamental existential phenomenon.
Considering the time in which information bombardment, and cognitive overload is the new normal, in the context of photography, we must question not only the topics it depicts, but also the role of photography, the photographer, and the photograph itself. We take too many things for granted too easily and as a photographer I attempt to slow down the pace through this body of work, ‘Consciousness’.
